Mentoring Works! A lot of research shows that the most effective way to help kids reach their full potential is to match them with a mentor who can serve as a positive role model.
Family Service is committed to matching as many youth as we can with adult mentors. We do this in a variety of ways, through several different mentoring programs:
- Big Friends Little Friends – A community-based mentoring program for youth throughout the Merrimack Valley (formerly Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Lawrence).
- GRAD – A one-to-one mentoring program for students in the Lawrence Public Schools who are at risk of dropping out.
- AIM – A one-to-one, community-based mentoring program specifically for youth involved in the State’s Department of Youth Services.
- Stand & Deliver – A site-based academic mentoring program for Lawrence youth that aims to improve MCAS scores, help students in Advanced Placement classes, and facilitate enrollment in college.
