Samartians Crisis Line Volunteer Trainingy

The Samaritans of Merrimack Valley, a program of Family Service, Inc., relies on volunteers who, through the goodness of their hearts, reach out to help people who call our confidential crisis help lines.  People from all walks of life are trained to offer support and caring for those who are lonely, despairing or suicidal.  We are always looking for compassionate people who are willing to give 5 hours a week to befriend our callers.   

Our next volunteer training is Monday, May 7th and Wednesday, May 9th , Monday, May 12th, and Wednesday May 14th from 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Family Service, Inc., 430 North Canal Street in Lawrence.  Attendance at all trainings is required.  We also have a teen help line staffed by youth between the ages of 16 and 18.  Teens are always with an adult volunteer and work a 3 hour shift a week.

Survivor Voices Training

We will be offering a two-day training for survivors of suicide loss who are interested in learning how to tell their story safely to friends, various audiences and the media.

 The training is free of charge and will be conducted over the course of two days. You will be asked to commit to both days. Lunch will be provided both days. The training is limited to 8 participants.
