mentor for a day

What: The mentoring programs of Family Service Inc are pleased to host a winter “Mentor for a Day” event. Enjoy games, swimming and other fun  activities in a supervised environment. Take this excellent opportunity to give back for one day, and volunteer to mentor a child, one on one, during National Mentoring Month.

Samaritans Crisis Line Volunteer Training

When:Saturday, February 4 and 11, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m..

Where: Family Service, Inc., 430 North Canal Street, Lawrence, MA
What:  The Samaritans of Merrimack Valley, a program of Family Service, Inc., relies on volunteers who, through the goodness of their hearts, reach out to help people who call our confidential crisis help lines.  People from all walks of life are trained to offer support and caring for those who are lonely, despairing or suicidal.  We are always looking for compassionate people who are willing to give 5 hours a week to befriend our callers.   Our next volunteer training is Saturday, February 4 and Saturday, February 11, 2012, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Family Service, Inc., 430 North Canal Street in Lawrence.  Attendance at all trainings is required.  We also have a teen help line staffed by youth between the ages of 16 and 18.  Teens are always with an adult volunteer and work a 3 hour shift a week.
