Suicide Prevention Trainer
The Samaritans, a program of Family Service, Inc. seeks an energetic individual to provide suicide prevention gatekeeper training to groups of individuals across the Merrimack Valley and the state. The job includes developing a training curriculum, outreach to potential sites, conducting the trainings, keeping statistical data, follow up after training sessions and evaluation. Bachelors Degree, 2 years experience in human services field and experience providing training. Part-time (10-12 hrs wk) flexible hours with growth potential. No benefits. CASA Guardian ad Litem
Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Volunteers advocate for abused and neglected children in court. A high level of training and support is given to community volunteers who come from all walks of life to work with the child welfare system to make sure that children who have been abused or neglected can move quickly through the foster care system and into safe, loving and permanent homes. No special experience is required. Once accepted, volunteers are trained in courtroom procedures, social services, the juvenile justice system and the special needs of child victims. Samaritan Crisis Line
The Samaritans of Merrimack Valley rely on volunteers who, through the goodness of their hearts, reach out to help those in crisis. People from all walks of life are trained by Samaritans to offer support and caring for those who are lonely, despairing or suicidal. Trainings are held throughout the year. Academic Mentoring
The AMIGOS Mentoring Program is a school-based mentoring program for students in grades 4–8 at the Gerard A. Guilmette School and Emily G. Wetherbee Schools in Lawrence, MA. Volunteers are needed to meet for one hour each week at the student’s school during the lunch hour. Volunteers will be provided with significant training and support to form a trusting relationship with students that helps them stay focused on school and achieve their full potential. With just one hour each week, you can be the difference between success and failure for a student at risk.
